Mark Heyman, JD
Mark, the owner of HR Happens, has over 20 years of business, labor & employment law and direct HR experience. Mark works with entrepreneurs and leaders in small to midsize organizations to provide general HR support on an ongoing basis or to help manage difficult employee issues as they come up. Mark has worked in a variety of sectors including technology, manufacturing, health care and the restaurant and hospitality industry.
Early in his career, Mark practiced labor and employment law in the public sector, serving as Deputy Legal Counsel to the VT State Employees Association and as an Assistant Clerk in the VT House of Representatives. He then transitioned from lawyer to consultant, owning his own HR consulting practice for ten years. The next ten were spent serving as HR Director and General Counsel of a fast growing global tech company headquartered in VT. Mark received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Vermont in 1992 and completed his law degree at Suffolk University Law School in 1995. He currently lives in Hinesburg, VT with his wife, son.
